Another Monday –and I could use another coffee or two… My work schedule has changed for the next month and having a Monday off is nice, but it is also throwing my schedule off. This past weekend, I went to Seattle with Nick and Ethan for a little getaway and it was nice to relax for a couple of days. We went to Red Lobster for dinner on Saturday night and stayed at the Hilton, it was great! I hit up Nordstrom Rack on our way home and got a couple of pairs of shoes [both under $100!!] and I can’t wait to wear them! We went to the gum wall down at the Pike Place Market, and picked up my favourite flowers [peonies] as they are finally in season! It was fun being a tourist for the weekend.
After reading a few posts this past week about some of my favourite bloggers being body shamed, I just wanted to talk a little bit about why I started House of Classy. I have always been afraid of starting something new because of failure. A huge reason why I started HOC is because of these amazing, positive people such as Sarah, founder of Sassy Red Lipstick and Ashley of Two Peas in a Prada. They are such a big inspiration of mine, and to read that because they are so open and took such a risk to be who they are, they are being shamed for it, is not okay with me! I love what I have started because I CAN be so open about my life. We are so lucky to have a voice and to be able to speak out about what we believe in, and we shouldn’t be shut down for it. Why is it that so many people try and bring us down, and most of the time they don’t even know us? Truly, at the end of the day, it only brings us MORE power and strength and gives us an even better reason to move forward. I know that for myself, if someone was to try and intentionally hurt me, it would upset me for sure [because everyone has their insecurities,] but think about it… That is ONE person in the whole world. Not everyone is going to like you, and if they want to vocalize it and intentionally hurt you, then this is when I just feel sorry that they take the time to do this instead of live their own life to the fullest! That’s my take on all of this, and for those of you who have been in this situation, don’t let it bring you down! You are all strong, beautiful women, and not one of us is the same –be proud of who you are as an individual! Thank you Sarah and Ashley for being such strong women who inspire me and many others every single day by being you and sharing your stories with all of us!
