Let’s Talk Body Positivity:
IÂ talk about it a lot these days. Â I just want to be real with you guys, sometimes it really sucks to be “average.” Â I’m definitely not skinny, but I’m not plus sized. Â I’m strong, but my body may not look fit. Â I’m not thin, but I’m also not fat. Â I hate that we have all of these labels, and quite honestly, I don’t want any part of them.
I was recently at an event and was fortunate enough to meet the founder of Free to Be Talks. Â Free to Be is a non-profit organization that educates youth from grades six to eight on the importance of body positivity through many different channels in the classroom. Â I am so beyond excited that this organization was created because I can’t think of a better way to educate the importance of body positivity than in the earlier years of life, and I am hoping to become a part of it!
My entire life I have always felt like I was “in between,” which is a lot harder than it sounds. Â I have only ever been able to share clothes with one or two of my closest friends. Â I have most likely tried every “diet” or “cleanse” you can think of and cried over them just as often when they don’t work like I expect.
To be honest, the most rewarding thing for me is lifting weights. Â That’s what makes me feel confident in myself. Â Just the thought of hitting my goals makes me want to go to the gym as I write this. Â Going to the gym also helps with my depression and anxiety. Â Sometimes when I wake up, I just know it’s going to be a hard day and the best thing I can do for myself at that point is go to the gym. Even just half an hour of cardio can change my mood for the rest of the day.
Having a cute outfit to workout in definitely helps with my confidence! Â I don’t know about you, but I know when I have a fresh set of leggings or a new pair of kicks, I just can’t wait to put them on and test them out! Â My go-to’s right now are Lululemon tights [they have a drawstring on the inside of them so they actually stay up] and Nike Free’s because they are comfortable and they come in so many different styles and colours.
Everyone has that one thing that makes them feel confident within themselves, what is yours? Â Leave me a comment below!
